The report
The Dutch Team Championship in Nijmegen was one of the highlights of the season. The cadet team started strongly in the pool phase and then went through the knockout rounds without losing a single tie.
Klaas competed in the up to 50 kg class and won five of his six contests. Two of them were decided by ippon: once with a sharp seoi-nage and once with a hold-down after a strong transition to groundwork.
The final stayed tense until the very last contest. By staying calm and executing the coaches' tactical plan, the team pulled the decisive fight their way. That secured the national title and important points towards selection for the European Cadet Championship.
Thanks to the coaches, training partners and sponsors who made this result possible. The focus now shifts to the next European Cadet Cup.
